I’m relatively new to the whole cleansing oil scene and became pretty hooked after trying it for the first time. So when I was given the opportunity to try Dermalogica’s PreCleanse Oil and the PreCleanse Wipes I literally jumped at the chance. Mainly because I’ve had nothing but great experiences with their products and expected nothing but the best from them.
So the first thing I decided to try was the PreCleanse Oil and I was a little taken aback by the scent. It has a bit of a strong herbal/medicine like scent to it that was a bit hard to get passed. However, I have to remember that they don’t add any scents to their products which is actually a good thing because you don’t want any extra unnecessary things going on your skin. Getting past the scent, I really liked how well this worked! It removed even the toughest of waterproof makeup.
Using this was super simple! Just pour some of the cleansing oil onto dry hands and then massage over a dry face. One thing that’s not mentioned on the bottle, is that when you go to wet your hands to help bring it to a light lather, you want to make sure you are using warm water. You just don’t get the same cleansing effect when you use cold water. Once you’re done pre cleansing you want to make sure that you follow up with your normal face wash routine. Since it is a precleanse oil, it helps to break up whatever is on your skin so that your face wash can be twice as effective.
As for the PreCleanse Wipes, I thought they were your typical makeup removing wipes. Oh how I was so wrong and once again learned that reading is fundamental. Had I read the instructions I wouldn’t have been so horrified with the oily residue left on my face once I was done using it. When used the correct way, the wipes are great at concentrating on certain areas such as your eyes or stubborn lipstick. Once you’re done removing the makeup, you just follow up with your normal face wash as you would with the precleanse oil.
I really do like these precleanse products; however, as I stated above I’m not too crazy about the scent (the wipes have a bit of a lighter scent than the actual oil). They do work really great at removing makeup and I tend to use them together. I like to first go in with the PreCleanse Wipes and remove my eye makeup first. Then I follow up with the PreCleanse Oil over the rest of my face. Which then I follow up by washing my face with the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant that I received a while ago.
Another way I like to use the wipes is on my hands. I have a bad habit of putting my makeup on the back of my hands, from foundation to eyeliner and will find myself in the bathroom trying to scrub it off before I leave to work. However, these wipes have been a total game changer in that area! I no longer run out of the house with remnants of makeup on the back of my hand!
Have you guys tried the Dermalogica PreCleanse products?
If not, which are your favorite cleansing oils to use?
