Let’s talk about skin care. We’ve all been told time and time again the importance of skin care. Not only will it keep your skin smooth and soft, but it will also hopefully keep your skin free of blemishes. Notice I said hopefully. If you’re like me no matter how much I take care of my skin, it is still extremely prone to break-outs, guess it’s just in my genes. Anyways, proper skin care will also help with keeping your pores clean and small and it will create the perfect foundation to apply your work of art!
I’ve always been a huge sucker for technology and even a bigger sucker when technology is incorporated to anything beauty related. I’m sure by now you are all familiar with the Clarisonic. I was a huge Clarisonic lover until I realized how much money it would take just to keep using it…after already throwing down a lot of money just to purchase the system. Those brush heads aren’t cheap! Plus on top of that water would get behind the brush head and leave nasty stains/build up. Ugh! Then at one point my brush heads refused to attach properly which caused the head to not spin at all. Let’s not even talk about forgetting to charge it every few days…there were plenty of times it died on me while I was using it. So for the past year or so my Clarisonic has been sitting at the corner of my sink headless. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely loved the way it deep cleaned my face but my pockets were hurting.
I came across the Foreo Luna about a year ago and was instantly intrigued! It had the same benefits as the Clarisonic but it was entirely made out of silicone! This lead me to many questions, so many questions that I ended up not buying it. How do you replace the head? How much are the replacements? Do you have to replace the whole thing? What’s the lifespan on the device? Instead of seeking out the answers to those questions, I just said forget it…stupid me.
So color me surprised when the Foreo Luna became available in the iFabbo shop! (If you’re not familiar with iFabbo, it’s an amazing blogger/PR network that sends really great products for bloggers to test out for review). Unfortunately, it wasn’t available for me no matter how often I prayed it would. Regardless, I still got the opportunity to attend two Spreecast events that allowed my fellow bloggers and I to learn more about the Foreo Luna and other Foreo products. During these events I was able to get answers to all of my questions from one of the guys at Foreo. This made me want the Luna even more and guess what?! I ended up winning a Luna in one of the Spree cast events (happy dance)!
Before I tell you how I felt after using it, I want to quickly run through the answers to my questions:
Q: How do you replace the head?
A: Simple, you don’t!
Q: How much are the replacements?
A: $0 there are no replacement heads that need to be purchased.
Q: What’s the lifespan on the device?
A: Comes with a 2 year limited warranty and a 10 year quality warranty.
I won the Luna for Normal/Sensitive Skin, even though I have really oily skin it works really great! Not only does it deep clean your skin and effectively remove your makeup but the Luna has an Anti-Aging mode that you use in the main areas that are prone to wrinkles. It’s so easy to use; all you have to do is flip the device around and gently apply to the following areas: between the eyebrows, right temple, left temple, right nasolabial fold, left nasolabial fold (those are the areas located between the corner of your nose and the corners of your lips). It also has variable speeds that allow you to customize it to your own preferences.
I loved the Luna so much, that I went out and purchased the Luna Mini. The Luna Mini is a smaller cuter version and comes in so many fun and trend setting colors! My favorite color is purple, so of course I had just had to get mine in purple. This version of the Luna does have a few different features than the original. Instead of having an anti-aging mode, it has dual brushes. One side for cleansing and the other side for deep cleansing. It also has two speeds, I like to use the higher speed. I honestly love this version better than the original because it fits perfectly into the palm of my hands. I do use both sides of the brush head. I use the cleansing side on outer sections of my face and I use the deep cleansing side on my T-Zone area.
There are quite a few things that I love about these devices. It has a timer that will notify you in the form of 3 consecutive vibrations of when it is time to move to the next area of your face. Although, I do wish that it would let out a soft beep like the Clarisonic, only because there are times where I’m just in my little zone (singing, trying to stay awake) and completely don’t notice the vibrations. The battery life is impressive to say the least. I’ve been using it twice a day for a little over 3 months and it’s still working off the first initial charge! Can you believe that once it is fully charged it will last you up to 450 uses (300 for the Luna Mini). I also love that it has different speed options that you can choose from, plus it memorizes the speed that you like to use. Then there’s the fact that it’s really gentle on your skin. Even when it’s used on the highest speed, you don’t have to worry about any bristles potentially scratching you.
All of the Foreo products are all made out of silicone. One of the great things about silicone is that since they are non-porous they not a breeding ground for bacteria; therefore it eliminates the need to keep replacing. Simply wipe down the device after each use and your good to go! Also since it is made from silicone you do want to make sure not to use any clay-based, silicone-based or grainy cleansers, exfoliators or scrubs.
After using the Luna for a week, I have seen my skin really improve! My pores are smaller and I’m not breaking out as much. I even noticed that the texture of my skin has improved; my skin is noticeably softer, smoother and dare I say has a bit of a glow to it!
I know the price tag may scare you off a bit, but it truly is a great one-time investment! This is a product you’ll be using for years and you don’t have to worry about replacing a brush head every month or so in order to keep using it.
So, what do you think? Does this sound like something you would be interested in?
