For the past month or two, my skin went from oily to oil refinery. All jokes aside, there were plenty of days where my makeup would literally start to separate from my face. I tried switching moisturizers, foundations, powders, primers and even tried my milk of magnesia trick that I used to do a few years ago but nothing worked! It was horrible and so embarrassing. I know my cousin probably got tired of the text messages I would send her telling her how I wish I could just have a brand new face. LOL
One time I was at work and went to the restroom, when I looked in the mirror my makeup looked hideous. I felt like I belonged in one of those D horror movies. I did try fixing it but it made it look ten times worst. For the rest of the day, I just walked around with my head down until it was time to go home.
Then I recalled that a few of my favorite Youtubers Jackie Aina and Vicky Logan also dealt with really oily skin and swore by the Becca Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector. So, I ended up purchasing it (the mini version) along with the Kat Von D Lock ‘N Load Makeup Setting Spray (there were tons of good reviews from oily folks like myself). I was definitely excited about using these products but kept my expectations really low.
Using the Becca Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector for the first time, I automatically knew that this just may be my saving grace! As soon as I put it on, it literally just sucked away ALL the shine and left my face perfectly mattified. The only thing it didn’t do too well on was making me as poreless as my Benefit Porefessional Primer. Other than that, it definitely did a great job at keeping my oils at bay ALL DAY LONG! Yes, that’s right I said ALL DAY LONG!
As far as the Kat Von D Lock ‘N Load Makeup Setting Spray, this baby doesn’t compare to ANY setting sprays I used in the past! Not only does this do an amazing job at keeping your makeup in place, but it did a great job from keeping my makeup from transferring onto my clothes. I know some of you may be thinking that they are one in the same; however, I’ve used other setting sprays that have kept my makeup intact but as soon as my chin touches my shirt there would be a makeup spot left behind. With this I haven’t had any transferring (unless I intentionally rub my face).
I truly feel like these two products together will make the ultimate Power Couple for those of us with oily skin. I will definitely be picking up the full-size primer once I run out.
