Within the past year, I’ve fallen in love with the Beauty Blender. Which is crazy because I was so closed-minded about using a sponge to apply my makeup. Why? I have no idea. I would always tell people who you would never catch me using a sponge, even if it was the new thing to use.
One night, I thought to myself why is everyone raving about the Beauty Blender? So finally curiosity got the best of me and I broke down and bought one. To my disbelief, I ended up loving it, and am always recommending it to everyone.
Those of you who are familiar with the Beauty Blender know that it can be quite expensive to replace them. So when I heard that Real Techniques came out with their own version, I was on the hunt for them. I have quite a few of their brushes, and really love them, so I figured this would be a great sponge.
The Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge is shaped very differently than my Beauty Blender.
Where the Beauty Blender has more of an egg shape on top and a pointy bottom. The Miracle Complexion Sponge has an oval shape on one side and more of a flatten oval shape on the other side.
(See how it more than doubles in size once wet.)
Right away I can see how the flattened side of the sponge would help to make for a better application. The angles of the flattened side allows for me to have better control of where I’m applying my foundation.
After using it, I can honestly say that this is a great alternative to the Beauty Blender. When wet it does more than double in size and has a nice soft texture. It didn’t feel cheaply made either.
It worked great at giving me a nice flawless finish. Just like the beauty blender I used it to apply my concealer, foundation and powder.
I can definitely see myself purchasing this quite often. I do find that my beauty blender is a little firmer and gives a better flawless finish, but this is a great alternative.
Have you tried this yet? If so, what are your thoughts on it?
If not, what do you use to apply your foundation?
