So last Friday I went on a nail polish spree and scored some amazing deals!
Since I scored so many deals and so many polishes, I’m dedicating this whole week to nail polish.
My first deal was on Sephora’s new Formula X nail polish. I’ve been seeing this polish a lot on some of my favorite YouTube nail guru’s channels.
I purchased the Formula X Starter System!
“Take your nails to the next level of perfection with The System Kit. Start with Nail Cleanser, an essential step that leaves nails free of residue for smooth polish application. Next, apply Base Coat, an advanced adhesive primer that forms a sticky layer, helping lacquer take hold. Add your Formula X lacquer of choice for whatever effect you’re after. And finish with super glossy Top Coat to protect your manicure with dazzling high shine.” – Sephora Website
The main two reasons I was really interested in trying the Starter System, is because of the Nail Cleanser and the Base Coat.
My hands and nails tend to get very dry, and before I paint them I prefer to moisturize them that way I don’t mess them up with lotion or cuticle oil after I’m done (I’m impatient and don’t always wait for them to dry).
The Nail Cleanser helps to cleanse your nails by removing any impurities leaving your nails primed and ready for the base coat and polish. I did find this to be true, and did notice that it removed the excess oil that was left on my nails from the cuticle oil and lotion.
I was super excited to try the Base Coat. The Base Coat is described as ultra sticky, which helps nail polish to adhere to it, and helps the polish last longer. I’ve never tried a base coat like this, but do know of others on the market.
The Top Coat leaves your polish very shiny and is resistance to both water and detergent, so it helps your polish to last longer.
With the Starter System you also get a nail polish. You can choose any polish from their HUGE collection. I also decided to get two extra colors.
Here are the colors I got:
I also used my VIB points to get a mini sample.
High Frequency – a bright turquoise (New Classics collection)
(With Top Coat)
Exclamation – a tea rose pink (New Neutrals collection)
(With Top Coat)
Kapow! – electric royal blue ( Electrics collection)
(One Coat. Middle finger has a white coat underneath.)
(Two Coats. Middle finger has white coat underneath.)
(With Top Coat. Middle finger has white coat underneath.)
Pyrotechnic – dynamite red (New Classics collection)
(With Top Coat)
I must say that I am LOVING the coverage of these polishes, well except for Kapow! They are all very creamy and have an opaque finish. You can also get away with one coat.
I wasn’t too crazy about Kapow! On the website it looked a lot more brighter. So I was expecting more “Kapow!”.
I did find that this polish did last longer and did not chip as easily as other polishes.
I will definitely be purchasing more colors. I want to at least try out one polish from each of their collections.
As of right now, they have a total of 15 collections:
Have you tried Formula X yet? If so, what colors have you tried/recommend? Do you like this brand?
If you haven’t tried this, do you think this is something you would want try?
