About a week or so ago, while I was at Ulta, one of the employee’s was raving to me about how much she loved the Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipsticks. So of course I had to try it out for myself.
One of the things that I first noticed about it was the packaging. It’s very bright and colorful, very Spring like. However, I didn’t notice until after I bought it that the actual lipstick packaging was made out of a very sturdy cardboard. Which I’m not too crazy about, only because I’m very rough with things, so I’m not sure how long that will last.
Other than that, I have nothing but great things to say about this lipstick and that it does live up to its name.
This lipstick went on extremely smooth. It basically just glided onto my lips and was very moisturizing.
I noticed that it has a nice minty smell to it , just like the Tarte Maracuja Divine Shine. Also, it did have a very faint tingly sensation on my lips but that did not last long at all.
This lipstick does have a sheer finish to it; however, even though it’s sheer, it is quite pigmented. The color can be built up a bit, but will still have a bit of a sheer look to it.
I had a little doubt about how long the lipstick would last throughout the day and was surprised that even after drinking (no straw) that I got about 4 hours of wear with it. After that it did start to fade away, and my lips had that stained look to them, which I didn’t mind at all.
One thing you want to do before applying this, is to make sure that your lips are moisturized and are not dry and flaky. Otherwise, it does draw attention to any dryness in your lips.
I’m thinking about going back and at least picking up two more color from this collection.
Have you tried the Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipsticks yet? If so, I would love to know whether you liked them or not. Also, what shades would you recommend?
If you haven’t tried it yet, do you think this is something that you would try?
