As I’m sitting here writing this post, I realize that I haven’t done a makeup post in quite some time. I definitely need to rectify this and get some more makeup reviews/swatches for you all to read. So to get me back on the right on the track, I’m going to be sharing one of many new products from butter LONDON.
When I received the new Glazen Eye Glosses, I ran right to Snapchat to share swatches and my initial impressions. If you follow me there than you know that I was extremely impressed by them! By the way, if you’re not following me on Snapchat please do, I share lots of behind the scene stuff plus initial impressions.
As soon as I opened each eye gloss I was immediately intrigued by the texture of them. The texture reminds me of pudding; seriously I sat there jiggling and poking at them for a few minutes. Are you guy’s familiar with the squishy texture of slime? Well that’s what it reminds me of, only a makeup lover’s version that you can wear.
The butter LONDON Glazen Eye Glosses come in 4 shades:
Spark – warm sparkling champagne
Bronzed – rich sparkling deep bronzed
Frosted – warm sparkling rose gold
Oil Slick – sparkling chameleon
Without a doubt, I’m sure the question on everyone’s mind is if they really do have a wet glossy look once dried and if they actually dry. I’m excited to say they do! I was actually quite surprised and impressed because I’ve tried a glossy eyeshadow before and my eye lids were left a wet, sticky and creasy mess.
One of the many things I love about this is how you can easily intensify the pigmentation. Although it starts off a bit sheer (one thin layer) it’s still pretty darn pigmented. Just so you know the following swatches are dried.
Surprisingly if you decide to layer them it doesn’t get super thick the more you build it up. Just don’t get overboard with it…like those 100 layer challenges (hmm). I do want to note that when you’re adding layers make sure you add thin layers because if you do a thick layer, then once dried the gloss will begin to crack.
Now let’s talk about creasing; I have super oily eyelids, so products just LOVE to crease on me (even my foundation). I tested these out without a primer and surprisingly did not have any creasing all day! I love when a product lives up to its description!
One of the things I was very curious about was the drying time. Can a glossy eye shadow really dry? Yes, yes it can! I was quite surprised that the drying time was pretty quick. I did have to lightly tap my eyelids to ensure that it was dried because I could not tell by looking at it.
I’ve had quite a few questions on the best way to apply the eye gloss. After testing out my fingers and a few types of brushes I realized it depends on the finish that you are going for. If you want a light sheer subtle finish then the best way to apply it is with your finger. However, if you want more if an intense finish then the best way to apply it is with a flat concealer brush (I use the F70 brush from Sigma) .
Overall, I love these eye glosses. Although I think that all the colors are gorgeous, if I could only pick 2 favorites I would have to say Bronzed and Frosted are it!
For those obsessed with the makeup seen at Fashion Week like me, did you guys notice that eye glosses were a huge hit this year!?
I would think is obvious but was not obvious to me…please be sure to close the lids tightly or you’ll end up with completely dried out eye glosses! I lost all my eye glosses because I forgot to tighten the lids after using them.
Thank you so much Butter London for sending me these products to review!
